I am a friendly, polite individual who approaches every occasion with enthusiasm. I am passionate and hard-working. I am a strong listener and my speech is clear and concise. My approach is adaptive, shifting to suit changing circumstances. I am observant and have a high attention to detail. I emphasise engagement and finding the fun in the mundane. I am eager to grow and take any training opportunities available to me.
I am an artist and enjoy many crafts including Drawing, Painting, Sewing (Plush and costume making), and writing.
In June of 2018 I completed my Level 2 CCLD (Children’s Care, Learning and Development) In Heronsbridge School. I worked with children and young people aged 4-19. I worked with children with a variety of additional needs including ALN/SEN (eg ASD and Down’s Syndrome), PMLD, and children with physical disabilities. In my second year I worked in the sensory department and assisted with sessions such as Sensory Drama, Touch Trust, and DIR Floortime. I also assisted in the schools Christmas production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. During my training I learned rudimentary BSL as well as the PECS system. I received Manual Handling (Inanimate and Animate), SCIPr, and Safeguarding training alongside my course.
I also took up work experience in Bryntirion Comprehensive School assisting the ALN department as a learning support assistant. I assisted children in all subjects in their work by helping them remain focused and guiding them in their work. I was also given the opportunity to provide additional mathematics lessons on a one-to-one basis, creating activities and practice questions to use for this.
Between July 2017 and June 2018, I worked for ACE Life Centre as a Playworker following the DIR Floortime Scheme for children with ASD aged 4-11.
